Tingira Race Report (3/9/11)
Well what a great race to end the series! From the perfect weather, the awesome course, the smiling faces at being greeted with sun shine to the great racing and now we actually have a perpetual trophy each year for the Tingira Open!
It is going to be interesting to see who brings the fastest boat and crew around to take out the trophy next year! Remember it is the fastest craft on the day! Double or single it doesn’t matter. Start planning now!
There is nothing better than going out for a paddle in the sun shine with 70+ great people all looking to have an awesome time on the water! I really enjoyed the buzz of the group as we got closer to the start and even on the water while we waited for the hooter people were talking and joking. It is that excitement that makes me just want summer to come around even more!
It was fantastic to see some new faces on the water as it was also great to see so many of the ones who have raced with us all winter. Well done to the juniors and also to the women paddlers who came down and showed some real speed out there. It is always great to see the Outriggers and of course well done to Lou and Daniel on the SUP’s! There were some tough sections for the skis and OC’s so well done to you for doing it standing up!

Remember when you go out on the water to take a life jacket with you. We have introduced it into the race series this year and you will find that it becomes an essential part of ocean and harbour racing when you are more than 100 metres from shore. When you register you are confirming that you will abide by the race rules of wearing a life jacket at all times during the race. It was also mentioned during the briefing. Unfortunately we had to DNF some paddlers who did not wear a life jacket and were not wearing them when they crossed the finish line. There have been changes to Lifejacket requirements. You can see these on:

Please be safe on the water and most importantly if you are looking for a great time either with your friends or by yourself. Go for a paddle!
